General Condition of Vehicle.
In an earnest effort to ensure utmost transparency, please carefully assess the following details to gain a comprehensive understanding of the vehicle's condition before making your purchase.
Take a good look at the photos of the car — it's already got a great-looking paint job and it's in pretty good shape. It hasn't had a thorough cleaning in a long while, so what you see is not as good as it can get. Once we give it a good detailing — which is like a spa day for the car — those small paint scratches you might see now can mostly be buffed out. After a full detail, it will shine and look even better. It's like taking a car that’s already nice and making it look awesome with just a good clean-up.
Speedometer: The speedometer has recently stopped working, and it may require a replacement of the connecting mechanism to the wheels. The vehicle currently shows 84,000 miles on the speedometer, with only around a hundred miles added since the issue.
Paint Job: The vehicle underwent a repaint in approximately 1988, and while the paint job was exceptional, certain trim pieces were not removed, resulting in some unpainted areas. Fortunately, these areas are mostly out of view and barely noticeable. Photos are included to illustrate these spots.
Air Conditioner: There's an aftermarket air conditioner installed, which initially functioned well after a Freon refill. However, there seems to be a leak over time, and it no longer cools. The compressor is reportedly still fully operational if the system is recharged with Freon.
Engine Enhancement: The engine was recently serviced, and the original dual-barrel carburetor was replaced with a four-barrel version, significantly improving engine performance. In summary, the mechanic's assessment of the engine's condition, quiet operation, and ease of starting provides reassuring insights into the vehicle's mechanical integrity. It suggests that the engine has been well cared for and is currently in excellent working order, contributing to the overall reliability and user experience of the vehicle.
Power Steering: The power steering appears to be in excellent condition.
License Plate History: The current vintage license plate was first installed in 1962 by the second owner, with the current owner acquiring the vehicle around 1986 as the third owner.
Rust on Rear Right Door: The rear right door shows slight signs of rust near the bottom, though it's hardly noticeable.
Exterior Rear View Mirror: The external rear view mirror is not the original version, but replacing it with an original version should be a cost-effective solution.
Front Bumper: The front bumper makes a slight noise over bumps, but it's a minor issue and easily repairable.
Seat Belts: Lap seat belts have been added to both front and rear seats, as shown in the photographs.
Storage and Maintenance: The vehicle has been primarily stored indoors throughout ownership, which was consistent with the previous owner's practices.
Drive Shaft: When accelerating from a stop, the drive shaft makes a knocking sound, indicating a need for repair or replacement. Thankfully, this is not expected to be a costly repair, and once the vehicle reaches a constant speed, the drive shaft is silent.
Radio and Antenna: The radio functions well, but the antenna may require replacement, which should be an affordable item.
Cracked Windows: The left and right side front windows have cracks, but a spare window is available for replacement.
Fuel System Maintenance: Recent replacements include a new gas tank in the original design, along with the fuel filter.
Headliner: The headliner is currently in need of repair. You can refer to the accompanying photographs to assess its current condition.
Carpet: The carpet also requires some repair. For an accurate representation of its current state, please refer to the provided photographs.
Seats: While the seats are generally in good condition, they could benefit from some repair. A visual representation of their current condition can be found in the accompanying photographs.
Dashboard: The dashboard would benefit from some repair. For a visual representation of its current condition, please refer to the provided photographs.
Tyres: I've noticed that the tires on the vehicle have been in service for quite some time. Despite having been driven for a relatively low number of miles, tires can sometimes experience wear simply due to the passage of time. I think they might have been originally installed around thirty years ago. It might be a good idea to consider having them inspected, and if necessary, replaced, to ensure your vehicle continues to run smoothly and safely.
